Open Doors honored Jeff Erdmann and Rick Kleeman as its 2018 Luminary Award recipients during its annual Gala and Auction on Thursday, April 26. This year marks Open Doors 35th anniversary as a community resource that works with people who are struggling with homelessness and poverty to provide shelter, support, and a plan for success.
“It is truly a gift when busy people make time to make a difference. Rick and Jeff are two committed, busy people with a passion for helping others and a commitment to excellence in all they do. We are so lucky to have them on our team and proud to honor them as luminaries this year,” said Jeannette Archer-Simons, Executive Director of Open Doors.
Jeff Erdmann is the founder and leader of the Erdmann Group, a distinguished wealth management team in the United States. Jeff recognizes that he has had good fortune in his life, and he has a passion for helping other achieve. He is committed to a community where no child is hungry or homeless and there are opportunities for individuals to build on their own strengths to make their lives better. As a business and community leader he demonstrates the power of commitment in the way he lives and works.
Rick Kleeman co-founded real estate investment firm Wheelock Street Capital, where he enjoys mentoring younger team members and developing talent. He grew up understanding that a life well lived encompasses a strong work ethic, honesty, commitment to your family and community, and compassionate service. “Giving back” either through time or treasure has been a consistent theme in Rick’s life and he parlays his philanthropy to achieve his life-long pledge to empower others.
The Gala and Auction took place at the Woodway Country Club in Darien and brought together over 300 business leaders, philanthropists, and friends and supporters of Open Doors from across Fairfield County to make a difference in our community.
