“We housed more people in the past year than we’ve ever housed, and the support we’ve provided to keep them stable is proving to be effective,” said Open Door executive director Jeannette Archer-Simons. “But my big worry is people on the streets and if anything we should be looking at who’s sleeping in cars and garages and old factory buildings. I think it’s something we need to address as a community. It shouldn’t be happening in Fairfield County. It shouldn’t be happening anywhere, but especially not here where we have the resources to change it.”
