Over the past 18 months, The Open Door Shelter has been committed to transforming the shelter’s work. This progress has included increased use of best practices, staff training, development of community partnerships, cleaning the inside and outside of our buildings, and working with law enforcement and our neighbors to build a better neighborhood.
Our next improvement is to paint a mural on the front of our currently plain white building and to add an awning so that those waiting to be screened for entry to meals and housing do not have to stand in rain or snow when the weather is bad.
The process has been photographed throughout and will be unveiled officially at our Annual Meeting, in the form of a block party on October 20. Click here for the entire album.
